Bedford County began its annual Coyote Lottery on October 20, 2015, for the fourth year in a row. The program, sponsored by several local businesses and the Agricultural Economic Development Advisory Board, incentivizes hunters to help manage the over-population of coyotes, which are a growing threat to livestock in the county. Participants receive one entry in several cash prize drawings for each dead coyote they bring in to be counted by Southern States. Entries will be valid through February 28, 2016, and winners will be selected once the lottery is officially closed.
