According to the Virginia Association of Realtors, there were 12,525 home sales statewide in December 2020, which is 3,067 more than December 2019, or an increase of 32.4%. Despite the pandemic and economic downturn, there were 13,603 more Virginia home sales in 2020 than there were in 2019. Historically low mortgage rates have supported strong homeownership demand and have helped to drive up home prices. In Bedford County alone, 127 homes were sold in December, an increase of nearly 30% year over year, and annually, a total of 1,593 homes were sold in Bedford County an increase of 16.2%.
